Communipaw Terminal Sunset

ron.diel has added a photo to the pool:

Communipaw Terminal Sunset

The sun setting behind the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal, sometimes known as Communipaw Terminal. Built in 1889, it replaced an earlier terminal that was in use since 1864. It operated until 1967.

Today the terminal is part of Liberty State Park, and along with nearby Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty recalls the era of massive immigration through the Port of New York and New Jersey. It is estimated that around 10.5 million entered the country through the station. [Taken from Wikipedia entry]

Photographed from the promenade in Battery Park City, across the Hudson River.
